The Scientific Statement of Being and Correlative Scripture
Composer Ed Bogas takes his cue from the poet and brilliantly reveals through music the correlation between these two texts, very familiar to the Christian Scientist.
Over a flowing accompaniment, the words to The Scientific Statement of Being, by Mary Baker Eddy, are presented in almost parlando style. Then, indicating the poet’s intention, the correlative scripture from the Bible is introduced in a second voice, serene and legato, and just behind the first, until, in illustration of the synonymous meaning of the two texts, they unify in parallel thirds. This piece may also be sung as a solo.
